There has been some confusion recently about Fluker posts and if they are still active. Please see a little bit of background below.
Between 2016 and 2020, approximately 50 Fluker Posts were installed across Victoria with government support to assist Flagship Waterway monitoring. An associated app was also developed to enable community members to contribute photos.
The ongoing operation of the Fluker Posts relied on continued management which needed financial support from the Vic government, including processing submitted photos and maintaining the supporting digital platforms. Over time, this support has ceased, and the app is no longer available.
As a result, Fluker Posts are no longer actively maintained or in use. The existing posts rely on systems (email and app submissions) that are no longer functional.
Reinstating the program would require significant resources, including renewed coordination, data management, and updated signage with new submission pathways.
