New Waterwatch site to understand water discharge oint

Waterwatch has expanded its monitoring sites in West Gippsland with the addition of a new site on Hazel Creek, near Warragul. This location was selected in collaboration with Gippsland Water, as the creek sits downstream of recycled water discharge and offers an important opportunity to better understand local waterway health.

Five new volunteers, all enthusiastic community members keen to play a role in caring for their local environment have signed up to do the monthly monitoring. Their involvement strengthens grassroots monitoring and brings valuable local knowledge to the program.

This new site not only improves the understanding of Hazel Creek—it also deepens the connection between the West Gippsland Catchment Management Authority (WGCMA) and the community. By empowering volunteers to collect meaningful, long‑term data, Waterwatch continues to support both community stewardship and the work of our partners, including Gippsland Water.

A warm welcome to new volunteers, and thank you to everyone contributing to this important collaboration.
