The North East Melbourne Waterwatch School Education Kit 2006 summarises our main education programs.
North East Melbourne Waterwatch services the communities that belong to the Yarra Catchment and its Tributaries (Darebin Creek, Edgars Creek, Plenty River, Diamond Creek, Salt Creek). This catchment spans the Cities of Banyule, Darebin, Whittlesea, Yarra and the Shire of Nillumbik.
We work with local school and community groups to monitor the health of the Yarra and its Tributaries, and deliver education programs focused on river health, ecology, stormwater and catchment education, conservation, as well as historical and cultural aspects of river life. We can tailor our programs to suit your unit of work within the School Curriculum Framework (II) and VELs guidelines.
We hope to develop students' knowledge of Freshwater Ecology, and assist students to develop a relationship with the local creek or river through their experience.
Join us by the creek closest to your Primary or Secondary School to discover what makes up a healthy creek, including what a vibrant world of critters lives in the waterway!
Access our School Education Kit here and contact Sarah or Julia at North East Melbourne Waterwatch for more information or to make a booking!
