West Gippsland Waterwatch Education Resources

Education Resource

East and West Gippsland Waterwatch have developed a regionally-specific education resource to highlight these natural assets and their management. Gippsland's Environmental Education resource was developed in 2005 by West and East Gippsland Waterwatch, and funded by the Victorian Government through the Gippsland Lakes Future Directions and Action Plan under Our Water Our Future.

The resource is a comprehensive source of information on topical environmental issues across the Gippsland Lakes catchment with local case studies, maps and diagrams featured. It is primarily aimed at Middle Years (5-8) Humanities & Science teachers but relevant to anyone with an interest in the environment.

Features include: teacher information sheets, student activities, curriculum tables, themed posters, student activity worksheets and glossary. The six themes featured are: Atmosphere & Climate; Biodiversity; Landscapes; Coasts, Rivers & Lakes; Heritage, Culture & Communities; and Sustainable Development.

West Gippsland Catchment Models

West Gippsland Waterwatch has two large fibreglass catchments models of the West Gippsland catchment area which demonstrate water movement. These are excellent educational tools for both school level and adult audiences. More information can be obtained by contacting West Gippsland Waterwatch staff.
